that really worked out great! I really like that part

Yeah you should take a better picture, but from what i can see, i can see this is a very good piece of art. So, i'll give you some critique.

Her Form: I love it. Its very accurate, and the shadows you use on her face are spot on. The nose and the ear line up perfectly, and I can tell you have excellent knowledge on the proportions of certain body parts. The shading great.

Her Expression: Its great! Its a bit on the neutral side, but theres still emotion in it. Theres a slight smile, and her eyes are a bit bright. Kind of like shes meeting someone new, or someone she may like.

Other Critique: The feathers/ and or ruffles of fur are what really stood out after the face in this piece. They seem to what defines the whole style of the painting. What i mean is they're somewhere in between obscure, and realistic. While they hold detail, they are not exact. Personally, I like it. I like it because its different, and its personal. I like things to be unique, and your style is.

But after saying that, I do not know if this is the exact style your shooting for or not. While your style is consistent in your gallery, and transfered from painting to painting, it seems to improve with each painting. Its interesting as a style, but with the improvement in detail, i can see you'd like to reach a more realistic style (or so i think, maybe im way off haha ^^). For that, both of the hair and the fur/feathers could use more thin/ fine, dark strokes. I've noticed with lighting that its largely the shadow/darkness that really defines an object. And the more shadow definition in hair the more realistic it looks. (that and having a good contrast of light and dark).

Anyway, you asked for advanced critique, so i thought i'd give you some.

I like it though, and thats honest.

Yes I keep trying to get a better picture and I keep failing...

Thanks a lot for your critique. I like to try to keep my paintings very loose..that is I try not to paint too much detail. I try to get just enough. I also work with pretty large brushes, even til the end. I definitely had the most fun with the fur in this painting, because I just kinda went for it..which was fun. I like the look of immediate, deliberate, strong brushwork.

It's very hard to be an artist when you don't get a lot of feedback, so I definitely appreciate your words and I will look at this painting again with some ideas. Thanks

Yeah its hard to progress when theres no one there to really analyze your artwork. I know how you feel, hopefully i can leave more feedback later.

I agree with RedExodus! I personally like the realistic approach done in a slightly loose impressionist style, which this is an excellent example. You put in some wonderful highlights as well as a nice blue/green cast to her neck and hairline. A beautiful painting of a beautiful woman.
